Grandma Pizza is a nostalgic Italian-American tradition that requires only a basic sheet pan to create a crispy pizza with lots of melty cheese and just the right amount of tangy sauce.

Grandma’s Pizza Is Low Stress But High Flavor

My husband always jokes that I’m an Italian Grandma in spirit, and well, he’s right. I love making big Sunday dinners and showing my love for people through food.

So trust me, I’ve perfected the Grandma Pizza. After many Sundays spent testing this recipe, I’m confident that this one has the best ratio of crispy crust edges to bready centers, plenty of cheese, just the right amount of tangy sauce, and some finishing touches that take it to the next level.

Slices of grandmas pizza piled on a pan.

What’s A Grandma Pizza?

Grandma Pizza is a unique style that comes from home kitchens in Italian-American communities, especially on Long Island, New York. It’s named after the way grandmothers traditionally make rustic pizza at home without a dedicated pizza oven.

You don’t need even a pizza stone or pizza pan. You bake it on a regular old sheet pan, generously coated in olive oil for a thin but sturdy crust with a crispy bottom and edges. Low stress but high flavor!

A solid layer of cheese is layered over the crust, and then a small amount of pizza sauce is spread over the cheese (rather than under), a classic grandma pizza method that keeps the crust crisp and prevents it from getting soggy.

Grandma pizza is known for its minimalist approach, so beyond the cheese and sauce, toppings are generally kept to a minimum on this pie.

Think of Grandma pizza less like your traditional American pizza loaded with sauce and toppings. It’s more along the lines of a focaccia bread with some garnishes than what we normally think of as pizza.

Why You Will Love Grandma Style Pizza

  • Inspired by old-school Italian-American kitchens, this focaccia-like pizza has a nostalgic, comforting vibe, even if you don’t come from an Italian family.
  • No fancy equipment needed – you only need a standard half sheet pan and your home oven!
  • No tossing or stretching required; simply press the dough into the pan and bake.

Skip the marinara sauce and build a Meatball Sandwich with a garlic and white wine sauce. Keep meatballs warm in a crockpot for tailgating or parties!

Five meatball sandwiches on a rimmed baking pan.

My Spin On The Classic Meatball Sandwich

While everyone thinks of a classic red sauce when they think of a meatball sub, I actually love one that skips the marinara and takes a different route.

While this meatball sandwich still has juicy, flavorful homemade meatballs nestled into a big hoagie roll, it has a garlic and white wine sauce that really elevates this classic dish.

I’ve been making this dish for tailgates and game day parties for years and I’ve never heard one complaint that anybody is missing the marinara. I’ve only heard enthusiastic compliments!

Why You Will Love This Meatball Sandwich

  • The combination of ground beef, pork and breadcrumbs makes the moistest, most flavor-filled meatballs.
  • Whether you want it spicy, cheesy or herb-infused, there are numerous ways to personalize this recipe.
  • The meatballs and sauce can be kept warm in a crockpot for game day.

A black bowl filled with herby yogurt sauce and Greek chicken meatballs, with a spoon digging in.

These Ground Chicken Meatballs are Award Winning!

“I have made this recipe so many times in the last year, I don’t even need to look at it anymore. The whole family enjoys them too; you can throw them in a marinara sauce and use them in a meatball sub, or with pasta, or even cold leftovers out of the fridge!”

—Sharon

If you’re looking for a recipe for ground chicken meatballs, you’ve landed in the right place. This recipe stands out – so much so that it was crowned a Community Pick in a chicken recipe contest at Food52.

Praise for being “as refreshing as it is easy to pull together,” these Greek chicken meatballs have earned their place as a fan favorite.

I make these meatballs countless times each year, whether for a festive New Year’s Eve gathering, or as a frequent part of my weekly dinner rotation.

Their versalitity is unmatched: bake or air fry them to perfection, then pair with tangy feta, orzo pasta, or creamy tzatziki sauce for a meal that feels restaurant-worthy.

Why You’ll Love Mediterranean Meatballs

  • They require just a simple list of ingredients, and most things you may already have in your fridge or pantry.
  • They freeze beautifully, so they’re a great option for meal prep.
  • Can easily kept warm for a party in a slow cooker on the “low” or “warm” setting with a bit of chicken broth or water in the bottom.

This Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip made with Greek yogurt is a party food favorite that nobody has ever realized is a lighter version unless I’ve told them. It has reduced fat and calories but NOT reduced flavor.

A bowl of healthy buffalo chicken dip on a platter with cut veggies, crackers and tortilla chips.

Is Buffalo Chicken Dip Healthy? Not Really, But We Can Improve It.

Buffalo chicken dip is one of everybody’s favorite appetizers, made with shredded chicken, cream cheese, sour cream, buffalo sauce and blue cheese. It’s so delicious, but to be honest, it’s kind of a calorie and fat bomb. So, I set out to create a healthier buffalo chicken dip recipe that is just as good as the original.

And look, I know we’ve all been there. Somebody shows up at a party with a “lightened up” dish that they insist is every bit as good as the real thing (brownies made from beans, anyone?). And it never is.

But I’ve been making this healthy buffalo chicken dip with Greek yogurt for game day parties for YEARS, and I promise you: nobody has EVER realized it’s a lighter version unless I’ve mentioned it.

I think the key here is that buffalo sauce has such a strong, delicious flavor. It completely masks the fact that this dip is made with lower fat ingredients. Give it a try yourself and let me know what you think!

Why You Will Love This Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip

  • Focusing on protein? This dip has 15g of protein per serving!
  • With just a few simple steps and a handful of ingredients, it’s really quick to put together.
  • Gives you all the flavor you love with better-for-you ingredients.

Burger Pizza is a Mashup of Two Beloved Foods

When it comes to combining classic comfort foods, few things are as satisfying as this Cheeseburger Pizza. It takes the best parts of a juicy restaurant-style burger – ground beef, melted cheese and tangy pickles – and puts them on a crispy pizza crust for a weeknight meal or game-watching snack everybody will love.

What sets this recipe apart from others is attention to detail every step of the way. From par-cooking the dough to ensure a crispy crust, to selecting the right cheese for an optimal cheese pull, to sesame seeds to mimic a burger bun, this recipe is designed for home cooks of all skill levels who want reliable, delicious results every time.

Why You’ll Love This Cheeseburger Pizza Recipe

  • It tastes like a fancy restaurant-style pizza, but it’s so easy to make at home.
  • This family-friendly dinner appeals to all ages.
  • Easy to customize with your favorite burger toppings – bacon, avocado, even a fried egg or two!

This Best Breakfast Burritos recipe is customizable and can be refrigerated or frozen for future busy mornings. Reheat these savory egg, meat and cheese wraps in the microwave, air fryer or oven!

A stack of the best breakfast burritos in front of a light tile background.

Simple Homemade Breakfast Burritos

Of all of the recipes ever published on Foxes Love Lemons, this one has probably been tested the very most.

It’s surprisingly tricky to figure out the exact right amount of ingredients to fill six burritos so that they are full but not bursting, and if you have too much or too little of a certain thing, you have to re-test.

I’ve also done extensive testing of the best ways to reheat breakfast burritos! From frozen or from thawed; air fryer, oven or microwave – I’ve tried it all (and all are possible!), so you don’t have to guess and end up with a still-frozen or burnt burrito when you just want an easy breakfast.

Seriously, the number of breakfast burritos my family has eaten in the past few months would alarm you if you knew. But, it’s all worth it to bring you what are truly the BEST breakfast burritos around.

Why You Will Love This Breakfast Burritos Recipe

  • The make-ahead convenience of prepping a batch over the weekend and having breakfast ready to go all week can’t be beat.
  • Making breakfast burritos at home is much cheaper than grabbing fast food!
  • You can adjust the ingredients based on what you like. Use bacon, ham or sausage, or leave the meat out. Use any kind of cheese!

This is the BEST Fried Chicken Sandwich Recipe

If you’ve been on the hunt for the ultimate fried chicken sandwich, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s skip the fast food drive through, because you’re about to make a superior sandwich right in your own kitchen.

This idea for this recipe originally came from Bon Appetit, via Son of a Gun restaurant in Los Angeles. Over the years, I’ve made it a bit simpler by taking smart grocery store shortcuts like coleslaw mix and store-bought bread and butter pickles (the original magazine recipe wanted you to make your own pickles).

I’ve also cut back on the ingredient amounts a little bit, because I’ve found that you don’t need quite as much flour or buttermilk as the original recipe calls for, and I don’t want you to waste ingredients when you don’t need to.

I’ve been perfecting this recipe since 2013, when the original was published. The recipe below is as close to perfection as I think I’m ever going to get. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Why you’ll love this Fried Chicken Sandwich

  • I just can’t stress enough how delicious it is. The combination of perfectly fried, juicy chicken breast + the tangy pickle coleslaw + slightly spicy mayo + toasted brioche bun is honestly something I find myself dreaming about sometimes.
  • It’s a great way to use up leftover buttermilk. If you have a little bit of buttermilk lingering in the fridge after making blackberry muffins or another baking project, this is the way to use it up.
